Fall Nail Polish Collection

Along with lip colors getting darker during the Fall season, so do nail colors! Below I have some swatches of some of the colors in my collection, that I think would be perfect for Fall. I know it may be hard to see the color, so I took some pics of the bottles and I described the colors as best I can. I know some purples look blue and some greens look silver. :/ Sorry about that! Also, I separated them by Brand.

I really love the berry tones, I feel like I always reach for Essie’s “Wicked.” But I also think that greens, browns, blues, golds and neutral tones can also work. And sometimes just good old plain black can be really sleek and chic.

Fall Lipstick Collection (with Swatches)

Hi Friends!

As the weather starts to get chilly and the leaves begin to change. I thought it’d be fun to dive into my makeup collection and see which of my lip colors would be best to rock this Fall season. So I figured why not do a bit of a Lip Collection. I shop mostly in local drugstores like Walgreens and Rite Aid, I usually like Revlon and Almay products. I do have some NYX and NICKAK products which I find in a local beauty supply store.

I broke them down by color.

Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip Gloss in “Radiant Mauve”

* I tried my best to look up the name of this one. It’s a bit old and the sticker came off, but it basically looks like a really muted purple tone lip gloss with a bit of shimmer and I’d call it a mauve color, so when I looked up Elizabeth Arden this name seemed to be the best match in color.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in 645- “Forever”

Revlon Crème in 665- “Choco-Liscious”

NICKAK New York Matte in NMS17- “Dark Scarlet”

Mary Kay Glossy Lip Stain in “Mulberry Forest”

Side-note:

My go to lip colors would have to be Revlon Crème in 535- “Rum Raisin” and Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in 645- “Forever.” I find myself reaching for these two a lot, especially “Forever.” “Forever” is Matte and definitely lasts longer but it’s a more neutral color that just kind of enhances the natural color of my lips. “Rum Raisin is a crème consistency so it goes on really easily and requires less worry, because it will just gradually fade. I wear this color when I want to rock a bit more color but still stay in the red/fall lip look.

When choosing a lip product, it’s usually just based upon how I’m feeling that day. If I want a serious color pay-off and a long lasting wear, I’ll use a matte product. If I just want a bit of color that I can thrown on throughout the day with ease, I’ll do a crème product or a gloss. Or if I’m feeling really fancy I’ll layer a lipstick and a gloss of similar colors. For example I love wearing Almay’s liquid lip balm in 700- “Cantaloupe” over Revlon Matte in 013- “Smoked Peach.” Or I like wearing Mary Kay Glossy Lip Stain in “Mulberry Forest” over NICKAK New York Matte in NMS17- “Dark Scarlet.” It just gives it a sharper color and adds a little glisten to your look. As with everything in fashion it’s just based upon what a girl’s feeling. Am I right or am I right? 😉

What’s your favorite lip color for Fall?

My No Make-up Routine

There are some days (usually on the weekends) when I will go makeup free. I used to never wear makeup to school all the way up until college. Here and there maybe lip-gloss and eyeshadow, but rarely on an everyday basis. If I had a party or something, that was a different story.

But now that I am working everyday I just feel I need to do a little something everyday. So I like to give my face a break on the weekends. If I don’t have to be anywhere special I will go all natural the whole weekend.

I can’t say that I always feel super confident when doing so. I used to be fine without wearing makeup, because I was so used to it. But now I’m used to having some makeup on during the week, so when I don’t I feel like my insecurities can arise. #BAGSUNDERMYEYES

However, I think it’s important to give your face a break. And I have actually gotten some compliments when using this little routine.  There was actually one day I did these few small steps. I threw my hair up in a messy bun and some hoop earrings on, and went to my aunt’s to have dinner and my sister in law was like “Do you have any makeup on today?” and I was like “No. none. Actually like zero.” And she just looked at me with a face and was like “Ugh, I hate you. I’m looking at you saying, this girl looks so pretty today.” Lol.

That was such a crazy sweet compliment that it made me feel really great. I was feeling insecure that day and I was just like cool, I can do this no make up thing. I do it no matter what, because I think it’s super important for allow your face to breathe, but now I can have a little more confidence going makeup free.

So I thought I’d share what I do on the days I decide not to wear any makeup. Like zero makeup.

edit

STEP 1:

First, I take my morning shower and I wash my face with a facial cleanser. I usually use Simple products, but then I switched to Cetaphil, and now I’m currently using Neutrogena.

Quite honestly, I think I’m going to be switching back to Simple or Cetaphil. I don’t care for the smell of the Neutrogena face wash. I really liked the Cetaphil one the best out of the brands I’ve tried so far.

STEP 2:

After I get dressed I do my skin routine- splash some cold water on my face. I don’t know why I do this. I know I just showered, but for some reason it’s just like a boost. And I feel like it preps my face for my face lotion.

STEP 3:

After I dry my face, I apply my Simple Moisturizer, I’ve been using this for a while and I like it. Accept I recently bought the wrong one by accident. So currently I am using the Rich Moisturizer. But I like the Light Moisturizer with SPF in it. It’s light texture, not greasy, and smells good! I think I’ll be switching back to the light. (it’s the one with the yellow sign on the front.)

*This is also the time when I brush my teeth, clean my ears and blow my nose and all that jazz. You know usual human things.

STEP 4:

Apply chapstick or lip balm. I use my holy grail- the old school blue tub Blistex.

STEP 5:

Apply a little bit of Vaseline to my eyelids. I can’t remember where I saw this. I feel like it was in a beauty guru’s no make up routine. I just think it gives you a little natural shine.

STEP 6:

This next step is a bit weird and unconventional, lol. But I usually pinch my cheeks a bit just to get some color. HAHA.

STEP 7:

I curl my eyelashes with my Revlon eyelash curler, and brush my eyebrows in place with my elf eyebrow brush.

STEP 8: (OPTIONAL)

Rock the messy top knot or side bun and add some statement earrings for flare if your looking to spice things up.

This is a selfie I took after doing this routine.

And there you have it. That’s about it!

I don’t always do this on my no makeup days. If I’m just home, I won’t do anything! If I have to go out and don’t want to wear makeup then doing these small little things can make me feel a little more confident. What do you do on your no makeup days?

OOTD: Palazzo Pants & Big Hoop Earrings

New York & Company is a store I shop at when I need something a little on the fancier side. So for my best friend’s Bridal Shower, I went to pick up an outfit. When I walked into the store I was instantly aware of their newest trend- Palazzo Pants. Hello, welcome back to the 70’s ladies.

I had to get a pair and after trying on a bunch of prints, this is the pair I decided on. I have to say I saw these and knew they’d be the ones I’d end up with. #BlackAllDayEveryDay #ICantEscapeIt

My top and earrings are also from NY & Co.

Here is how I styled these Palazzo pants:

IMG_20170311_181735

I wanted the pants to be the focal point. I love that they were black with a pop of color from the flowers. Because of this, I wanted to pair them with a white simple blouse. I tried yellow, and red, but it seemed to be too much color. This simple white top was perfect. Not only did it blouse nicely when tucked into the pants, but it has that subtle yet unique neckline that spruced the plain white color up a bit.(The top was a bit sheer so I wore a black bandeau underneath.)

For makeup and hair I kept it pretty simple. Kept the eye shadows in the bronze, browns, golds family. That’s usually my go to, because I LOVE GOLDS! As for lips, I did a mixture of a burgundy red (Revlon’s Rum Raisin) and bright orange (NYX Cherry Cheesecake) to form a nice bright coral like red.

Next, I wanted a sleek, yet slightly messy high ponytail with some curls to frame my face. Added some bold big gold hoops for earrings, paired with gold bangles, and some bold rings with turquoise and green accents.

20170321_220151

I don’t have any links to these rings- The one of the left was my grandmother’s and the one on the right I bought from someone at a garage sale.

On my nails I had Essie’s “Penny Talk.”

And for shoes, I kept it simple with some basic Mary Jane type black pumps. That chucky heel made them much more comfortable.

Got these suckers on clearance for $15! #WhatAFreakinSteal

The whole outfit is funky yet still sophisticated. I have this habit of wanting to funk up every outfit I wear! Lol. My best friend told me I look like a sophisticated flowerchild. And guess what, I’m ok with that. It’s completely accurate and exactly the look I was trying to achieve. 😉

I was so excited about rocking this outfit. It was super comfortable. Perfect for all my maid of honor duties! I would definitely recommend the Palazzo pant trend, here’s a link to all the different prints New York & Company has to offer. Take a look!

Stay Tuned for when I style this little number for her Bachelorette Party coming up! 😀
