SAG Awards 2017 Fashion

I don’t care much about brands they could wear Target for all I care…but these gowns were gorgeous…so if you really want to know who they are wearing, I’ll leave that to E!’s Fashion Police. 😉

Last night I watched the SAG Awards, missing the Red carpet, I searched on instagram to see the stars in all their fashion. And I was surprisingly disappointed at first. No one WOWED me…until these ladies…

busy-phillips

Busy Philipps– dazzles in glitter and sequins. I saw her post this picture on instagram with a cute little caption about how attending an award show can feel like attending a high school prom. I thought this look was super funky and I love the color camouflage of sparkle, purple and silvers. Her messy high ponytail and dark lips complete this edgy look. Oh and that Dawson’s Creek nostalgia with Michelle Williams was just the icing on the cake. #Jenn #Audrey

michelle-williams-and-busy-phillips1

Emily Blunt– shines in this intricate beaded number. The pastel colors are so gorgeous  against that nude underlay and her sleek hair and simple makeup match perfectly. I also love how she didn’t do a necklace but opted for those dangly long earrings instead.

23rdannualscreenactorsguildawardsarrivals0uxqbrd3acrl1

Maisie Williams– She’s a new face for me, yes I know I know she’s from Game of Thrones- I’m sorry I’ve never joined that world. But her old Hollywood inspired glamour really sparkled. I love the pale pink/mauve silk gown. The fact that it’s silk, is enough to understand her minimal accessories and embellishments. That silk, that color and her bold dark lip are EVERYTHING. Her softly curled hair and bold eyebrows just create perfection! #ThatClutchTho #DoesItDoubleAsAMirror #Multipurpose 😉

nintchdbpict0002979201541-e14857374731341

Ellie Kemper– I love velvet AND blue is my favorite color! This dress is so simple, but the velvet and that rich blue color speaks volumes! I love her whimsical messy up do as well!

ellie-kemper

Gina Rodriguez– She is just perfect! I adore her! I love this fitted, patterned dress on her. It has birds on it, I mean COME ON! So cute! It’s very conservative yet funky and sexy at the same time. I like this style neckline on her! I also really adore the contrast of the nude lace dress against her caramel skin tone- makes her glow even more. Her simple loose curl up do and minimal jewelry only compliments her sleek, fresh look.

gina-rodriguez

Kate Hudson– I love this cape like, sheer yet sequined dress. I love how she’s not afraid to rock the basic black, but she stepped it up with this edgy piece. I love her sleek bold blonde hair with that dark red lip. The contrast of darks against her fair skin is extremely flattering and so gorgeous on her. She reminds me of a vixen in this look. Total badass. Although I have mixed emotions about that flower on the hip. I love how it adds a pop of color, but then I wonder if it would look even more chic without it. Either way, this was definitely one of my favorites of the night.#ThatRedVelvetClutchTho

Sophia Bush– I saved the best for last. My girl! I saw her and I was officially WOWED! I like her dress, I’m not obsessed with it, but it works with this look. What I did LOVE was her hair and makeup combination and how she choose to go monochromatic with just a few silver bits to accessorize. That bright hot pink extended to her eyeshadow and I can’t tell you how obsessed I am! I love the dramatic hot pink smokey eye, with a hint of purple peeking out. Who knew you could make a smokey eye with such vibrant colors. I love her low curled ponytail and her baby pink nails. Perfect. The dress is the accessory here. Sophia wins the SAG Awards for me for sure.

The tears were real during last night’s 2017 Golden Globes.

Last night was full of beautiful long dresses, sparkling jewels, and a dapper host in Jimmy Fallon. But the true inspiration were in the messages within the powerful speeches given by some of the most talented women in this industry of film, tv, and music. As a writer and someone who feels that creative pull and that need to be artistic, these words sung out into the world by the women I admire, in a field I hope to have embrace me in my future, were taken to my soul and felt. They were inspiring and they were hopeful.

Viola Davis presented Meryl Streep with the Cecil B. DeMille award. Her speech was funny giving us insight into their friendship, yet powerful as she explained how much Streep has meant to her and her career.

“Her artistry reminds us of the impact of what it means to be an artist, which is to make us feel less alone.”

“You make me proud to be an artist. You make me feel that what I have in me — my body, my face, my age — is enough.”

Meryl Streep‘s acceptance speech was about having empathy in the face of this world we live in today, as she criticized Donald Trump, calling his real life faults a performance that broke her.

“Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, and if you kick us all out, you’ll have nothing to watch except for football and mixed martial arts, which are not the  arts.”

“We have to remind each other of the privilege and the responsibility of the act of empathy…As my friend- the dear departed Princess Leia said to me; “Take your broken heart, make it into art.”

Emma Stone‘s speech was about perseverance in the face of rejection.

“This is a film for dreamers and I think that hope and creativity are two of the most important things in this world and that’s what this movie is about. To any creative person who has had a door slammed in their face either metaphorically or physically… to anybody anywhere really who feels like giving up sometimes, but finds it in themselves to get up and keep moving forward- I share this with you, thank you so much.”

It’s times like these when you see that sometimes, Hollywood breaks the mold, and special gems are born to shed a light and pave a way.

And onto the fashion…

[I don’t care about brands they could wear Target for all I care…but these gowns were gorgeous…so if you really want to know who they are wearing, I’ll leave that to E!’s Fashion Police. ;)]

Mandy Moore in stunning navy. She was the first one I saw who really made me fall in love with the fashion of the night. The neckline is something different for her I think but she still looks absolutely classic. The earrings match perfectly and I love her simply sleek middle part.

Gina Rodriguez, my Latina queen. She is my favorite of the night. This dress was like poetry in motion as she walked on that carpet- the tassels just swayed. And what a beautiful color against her gorgeous skin tone. SLAYED.

Also on the sparkle trend is new comer and young actress Millie Bobby Brown. What a little sweetheart! I love her sleek hair and her bright lip, I love that she still kept herself looking her age in a cocktail length dress.

millie-bobby-brown

Hailee Steinfeld. Can we just take a moment. Anyone who rocks a flowy lavender number, just gets me. What a red carpet steal! And the top and netted plunging neck line make it edgy.

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Lily Collins was next on my favorites! I adored this entire look. Her hair, her makeup is AMAZING, and that dress.  Total princess. She came for the best dressed Trophy.

This one never changes. Her face is still as young and fresh as the 90’s- #NeverBeenKissed. I love her beachy waves, and her smokey eye, I love her dark nails and her dress is just BADASS. It’s still really feminine but funky, in that Drew Barrymore way. What a class act.

rs_634x1024-170108160236-634-drew-barrymore-golden-globe-awards1

The yellows were also a bit of a trend, here we have Viola Davis sporting a bright yellow and Reese Witherspoon in a pastel/baby yellow. Both beautiful, both stunning. Viola Davis is someone who I cannot quite get over when I see her on screen. Every time she speaks, I am willed to listen. Reese Witherspoon is a heart, she’s a Hollywood gem and I will never not love her and her sweetness.

I had to include a black dress in here….because well let’s be honest, black is never going to be replaced by anything else. It’s chic, it’s sophisticated, it’s sexy, and so is this gown that Kristen Bell is rocking. I love her understated hair and that smokey eye/nude lip makeup combo. It really was the way to go, she really let that sparkle talk. #ThatNecklineTho  Also I love how it is long sleeves and her diamond cuff bracelet lies on top of the sparkly sequins. Paired with that black velvet clutch…now you have a fashionista. I have a new found love for all things velvet. Hello 90’s.

fashion9f-8-web1

And last but not least, I wouldn’t be a fangirl if I didn’t acknowledge that Jimmy Fallon is adorable and did great (what with the 12 minutes of air time he actually got, haha) and Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel actually walked the red carpet together. What? Is this new? In all honesty it made me happy. Earlier I joked as I said “You know you’re getting old when you are actually happy to see your ultimate celebrity crush happy and walking the red carpet with his wife.” Haha. Although “Trolls” didn’t win, it looks like Justin and Jessica won the night as cutest couple. 😀 (Although how bout Ryan Gosling being such a gentleman and thanking Eva Mendes in his speech! #SWOONINGEVERYWHERE)

“Make Me”- Britney Spears Fashion

If you ask me, no one does black lace like Ms. Britney Spears.

She’s recycled that look since her jaw dropping iconic 2001 VMA red carpet look.

And quite frankly anytime she rocks black lace it still suits her perfectly.

Here’s Britney rocking a darker hair with a similar black mesh look

at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

And more recently she rocked this scandalous number at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

In fact there are several flawless Britney Spears looks I’ve been obsessed with over the years and most of them are looks she’s worn in her music videos.

The torn fabric look from “Stronger,” has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember, I just always thought she looked so damn cool and edgy.

Currently I have been in love with the AMAZING black lace inspired outfits she’s rocking in her newest firecracker video for “Make Me.” Some people have been hating on this video and I just don’t get it. I think it’s really fun and you can’t take it too seriously. And FYI if you think this video is her objectifying men, that’s a bit of a reach. I mean how many rap videos do women have to sit through and see boobs and butts sticking out and women being objectified continuously. The video has a plot, the men are there to audition for her video, it’s not just like men naked for no reason. There’s a fun little story to go along with the theme of the song. And um…I am obsessed with this song!

Anyway…I digress, these black lace looks featured in this video are so classic Britney, and so sleek and trendy. Black Lace, never goes out of style. And the fedora….perfect touch. Can one rock that outfit on the regular please?

Did I also mention that she announced that her new album; “Glory” will be released…August 26th!

tweet

“Make Me” and (her next single) “Private Show” are available on Spotify. Catch a sneak peek on “Private Show” in the commercial for Britney’s newest fragrance inspired by the song!

Britney promises a new era with this album. From the listen of just these two songs, I’ve got to say I’m excited, I feel like this may be just what I’ve been waiting to see from her. A reinvention. Britney Spears in all her GLORY. 😉 #GloryIsTheTitleOfHerAlbum #SeeWhatIDidThere #CleverIKnow 😉

My 2015 Oscars Red Carpet Fashion Favorites

So I finally got to watch a live red carpet this awards season. The red carpets are always my favorite parts. I’m not going to sit here and pretend to know the ins and outs of high designer fashion, I barely know how to pronounce some of these designer names. But I can be a girly girl at times. I enjoy getting dressed up and picking out and pulling together an outfit. There is something so fun about experimenting with your look and trying new things. Everything from the hair, to the makeup, to the accessories, to the nails, to the dress, to the shoes. It’s a lot to go through, and it takes time. It’s sometimes exhausting, but fun, really fun. So I definitely appreciate everything these women go through to bring us their amazing and stunning red carpet looks.  With that being said, I will love to share with you some favorite looks of the night and why they stuck out for me. In no particular order…

Giuliana Rancic– E! News Host & Fashion Police Co-host

In Mireille Dagher

I think wearing red on the red carpet is one of those ironically beautiful things. I love the lace and how it compliments the sheer chest. I really love the red lip  (surprise surprise) and minimal jewelry, the dress really did the talking. And the fact that she darkened her hair really gives the red a warmth.

Gina Rodriguez

gina-rodriguez-oscars-2015-academy-awards[1]

In an *eco friendly dress as part of Suzy Amis Cameron Red Carpet Green Dress campaign w/ designer Manon Gabard

So Gina is like my new girl crush. She stars on The CW’s “Jane The Virgin” and I just really love how pure and organic her acting comes across. She just seems so humble and the show is so amazing. Really clever and something new to television. I love everything about this look. She looks like a Latin Princess. She was the first star I saw on the red carpet and I knew she would be a favorite. I love the color, I love her hair. I’m a big fan of the side bun. And I really love how simple the jewelry is, it matches the simplicity of the dress but adds just enough sparkle. And her makeup was just so sleek and subtle. The only thing was I wish I found a picture of her shoes. I wonder what she went with. My guess is a strappy silver heel.

America Ferrara – “How To Train A Dragon”

america-ferrera-oscars-2015-academy-awards[1]

In Jenny Packham

America how I’ve loved you since “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and then in “Ugly Betty.” I feel like she reminds me a lot of Gina Rodriguez. I like this dress a lot, I like the flow, and the sheer overlay, and the ombre effect. I love the belt and her earrings. And I can’t tell if her clutch is burgundy or just mirrored the color from the carpet. But either way, it works. However, I’m not too crazy about the cleavage. I think the different layers on top make it look kind of messy. I think the cleavage would have been more effective if the sheer layer wasn’t there, just on the top. The sheer on the bottom is gorgeous. And lastly, I’m not too much a fan of the middle part and the loose hair tuck behind the ear bit. (I noticed Reese Witherspoon did it too) But I do think America pulls it off for this look.

Cate Blanchett

cate-blanchett-oscars-2015-academy-awards[1]

In Maison Margiela Couture by John Galliano

I have to admit I debated putting this is my favorites, but the more I looked at it the more I just fell in love. Black is classic. I love wearing black. But I also try to stray away when I’m going to bigger functions. Just because I feel like I wear it enough on a daily basis. But that aside, this dress is so simple, so chic, and clean cut that I can’t deny it. It’s what appears to be a velvet material and the arms have this fringed, tethered effect that make it edgy and then that makeup and that messy hair, oh I love it! Let’s not forget about the only piece of jewelry Cate is wearing, that crystal, turquoise blue statement necklace. It matches her best natural accessory; her eyes. Just gorgeous, really.

Jamie Chung – “Big Hero 6”

87th-annual-academy-awards-arrivals-1[1]

In Yanina Couture

This dress was just visually enjoyable. She looked like a pretty firework display.

Dakota Johnson

In Saint Laurent

So since “50 Shades of Grey” came out, she has been the “it” girl. I like this dress on her. I like the simplicity of her pony tail and how the dress is so sleek and simple when you look at it from the front. But then she turns and you see the sexy slit and the strappy sexy silver sandals that tie in her one shoulder silver roped embellishment. I love that she went for the red lip too! She really tied this whole look up. 😉

Margot Robbie

margot-robbie-oscars-red-carpet-2015[1]

In Saint Laurent

So like I said before I tend to look down upon black dresses at these functions because I just feel like there are so many colors of the rainbow to showcase at these amazing events, that black just seems too predictable. But the more I kept looking at this dress and this whole entire look, I just fell in love. I love the flowy, relaxed look of this, it doesn’t swallow her figure up either. The sheer long sleeves and the plunging swoop of a neckline is just so effortlessly classy. I adore the way the dress kind of pools onto the red carpet at the bottom. I love the black with the red lip, it’s a sure fire combination in my book. And her hair is so bold and blonde and the cut is so blunt, I think it just makes the look punky and edgy. And last but not least the statement piece hanging around her neck, is a steal. Absolutely gorgeous.

Jennifer Lopez

jennifer-lopez-oscars-2015-academy-awards[1]

In Elie Saab

JLo the woman we had all been waiting for. JLo can never do wrong. I LOVE this dress and this look. For most people I feel like this color would wash them out, but not JLo if anything it just enhances her youthfulness and her glowy skin. I love the beading embellishment. The belt synching her waist, makes the flowy princess feel, more sexy and sophisticated. I love that everything; the dress, the accessories, the makeup, the nails, were all kept in this nude color tone family. I don’t think anything else would have worked as effortlessly. She looks like a Latina princess. Absolutely stunning. And the fact that she added a long flirty ponytail and some sheer pink lip gloss, makes the look even more breathtaking. I ADORE THIS. I do however, think she could have covered up the girls, just this once. Not that I don’t like the neckline, because I think it gives the sweet princess look some sexy appeal. Which when you think of JLo sexy appeal is right at the top of the list. But I just felt like from the side view I was sold and then she turned and I was like oh boobs in my face. I didn’t expect it and I felt like she didn’t need it. I thought the dress would have been equally beautiful if it was a straight across neckline with some beading.

Jennifer Aniston– “Cake”

1449[1]

In Versace

I like this dress on Jennifer. I like the sweetheart style, I like how it’s sheer toward the legs, I love the slit. And I love her simple makeup, to go along with her simple colored dress. However, my only issue was her hair. I just wanted to see a little bit of a wisky wave. Not too much, just something. She’s been doing this normal straight, no fuss, no muss hair do and I’m just like I need a little oompf ya know?

Um epic <3

Um…epic ❤

Emma Stone– “Birdman”

1415[1]

In Elie Saab

Emma, Emma, my sweet little Emma. I cannot with this dress. It is perfection and I adore it. The color, the long sleeves, the slit, the beading, those what I can only assume are like diamond wrist cufflings, the matching colored heels, the hair color, the hair style, and that orangey red lip. To die for. It’s amazing and the back was just completely open, which gave it a sexier, younger look.

Scarlett Johansson

1376[1]

In Versace

I love this color. I love the fit. I love the deep v-neckline and how it accentuates her bust without needing cleavage. And I don’t know if that’s a necklace or it’s a collar to the dress, but it is amazing. I love this look.

Katie Cassidy

87th-annual-academy-awards-arrivals-1[1] (2)

In Julien MacDonald

I feel like we’ve seen this type of dress many times. But I always love this style. I just think it’s a way to look sexy, and chic, but still be girly and covered up. I love the design pattern and I love the zipper detail on the forearms. That definitely funks it up. And I appreciate how Katie styled her hair and went for a dark wine red nail color. She reminds me of that old Hollywood glamor.

Well there you have it my top picks for fashion at this year’s 2015 Oscars. The only thing I wish was different was that we would get to see their shoes. I mean I get it it’s the Oscars, it’s glitz, it’s glamor, it’s floor length gowns. But I mean if you can’t show off them heels, why the heck are you wearing them. Put me in my moccasins any day! No one’s gonna see anyway and maybe you won’t have to worry about tripping. 😉 Just once I wish a mega star would roll up on the red carpet in a no name dress. Just like oh I’m wearing this dress from the thrift store I got it for $20. That would be amazing. I mean the amount of money these starlets walk around wearing is just insane, and for what, one night? And to be uncomfortable in the audience that you have to sit in for 3 plus hours. Hell no, I’d be like… flowy dress it is. No fitted, too tight to breathe crap for me. Who’s with me?

All kidding aside these ladies looked amazing, and it’s so empowering how fashion can be such a beautiful way of expressing oneself.
