This is my RIOT. [Part 2]

****LETTERS OF LOVE & FRUSTRATION-The Walking Dead Edition****

Dear Glenn,

You were a leader, a loyal man of honor. You took whatever came your way and handled your business like a boss, but with an odd heir of grace in a rather grace-less world. You were our heart, our family. And the thought that you will never crack a joke, kiss Maggie, or meet your baby, well it just breaks my heart to pieces.

Glenn- from your first words, “Hey Dumbass” to your last “Maggie…I’ll find you.”- I have never not loved you, believed in you, or trusted you. Unfortunately you were the heart and moral compass of the show that got taken away from us this season and in the very first episode of the season, none the less. You will be greatly missed, there aren’t words to explain just how much. Maggie will never be the same without you, and The Walking Dead will never be the same without you.

You truly were one of my favorites and this to date (and forever) will be one of the most felt Walking Dead deaths ever. I think you deserved better, I think you had more story to tell. I think you would have made an amazing dad. Forever and always, your loyalty, heart, fearlessness, bravery, friendship, love and kindness, will be with us. We love you, we’ll miss you, and….we’ll find you. This isn’t goodbye it’s see you later.

RIP GLENN Love you, forever. ❤ #Family

Dear Steven Yeun,

I hope you know how much we love you. How deeply your portrayal of Glenn as impacted millions of us. I already miss seeing you on my tv screen every Sunday night. And I wish you the best of luck on future projects. Can’t wait to follow your career. But to me, you’ll always be my Glenn.

Dear Abraham,

Thank you for rocking the trendiest mustache ever, for being a sassy ginger, for having the best southern accent, and for- my favorite of all- thank you for the countless hysterical zingers. You brought a little laughter to a very dark world, and we will miss your leadership, and your safe soul.

Dear Michael Cudlitz,

Thank you for being your bad-ass self and for honoring your fans to the very end of your Abraham journey. The next show or film to get you, is very lucky. I’ll be watching for you. 😀

Dear Maggie/Lauren Cohan,

You got this. We got you. Hand in hand we walk.

baby-glaggie

Dear Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman,

A little something comes to mind…oh yea that’s right…

Dear Daryl,

I love you, I love your southern slang & twang, your ability to own any situation, your worldly training and variety of skills, your fashion sense ;), your tough guy exterior and most of all your big ole heart of gold. The guilt of causing Glenn’s death will probably get you killed this season, but I hope you kick some serious ass before you go. (Please don’t go!)

This is a chocolate two layered cake with butter cream frosting and crushed Oreos in the center, surrounded by crumbled Oreos again and gummy worms, topped with a raspberry/jello/cool whip concoction as the “brain.” It looks kinda like a heart. #SorryNotSorry Lol.

Seconds before watching the premiere…

DISCLAIMER:

I’m going to be posting quite a few things about The Walking Dead this weekend, my usually scheduled Monday post, was a no go. It was just too soon for me to fully write up and process all that I had to say. I tried, but it wasn’t ready.  I will fill out the rest of this week with new posts. I need to get them all written and ready and then I will post accordingly. I need to get it all out, by week’s end, because then I can hopefully start to heal and move on. This is my venting. I hope you understand, fan to fan. 😀 If you aren’t a Walking Dead fan or you disagree with my thoughts, come back soon for a different vibe. Right now this is my RIOT time. xoxo

*I do not take credit for any images/gifs used is the first portion of the post.*

This is my RIOT. [Part 1]

THE INTRODUCTION

I’ve been avoiding finishing writing this all week. Partly because I can already tell it’s going to be a tall order/one of those really long ranty posts and partly because I just don’t know how to start this. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say, I have a whole hell of a lot to say. But I guess that’s the problem. It’s just that the idea of thinking about it again, is stirring up some emotional anxiety in me already. But my hope is that once I get all the feels out, I will feel better, and start to heal. It’s happened for me in the past.

I know at this point you are probably very confused…allow me to explain.

It’s just a show, they say. Don’t take it too seriously. Get over it. But to us- to a lot of us-it’s more than that. When you watch a show for 6 seasons, you learn and grow with the characters, you care about them, you are invested in their stories and want to know more. They become like parts of your family.  Our Sunday night family. Yes, I’m referring to Rick and the gang from AMC’s The Walking Dead.

[SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!]

Now I know there are many different opinions floating around by now, and I may be late to the game, but I just couldn’t finalize my thoughts until recently. Even now I still feel like I’m all over the place and it’s been a few days since the episode aired. But it left one hell of an imprint on my mind and my heart. And not in a good way.

This past Sunday night was the premiere episode of Season 7, entitled “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.” It’s an episode we fans have been anxiously awaiting since last season’s majorly talked about cliffhanger. And let it be known that even though I was mad at first, I defended the cliffhanger and thought it was badass and creative. I believed in the show that I love. The show that I love to watch with my family. The show I schedule my Sundays around. I believed they wouldn’t let me down. I trusted them. But what I got, was nothing I hoped for. In fact it was just the opposite.

In a nut shell. Let’s just say, I am NOT happy with the outcome.

THE FEELS ARE IN THE DETAILS

What I feared the most came true. A very beloved character was on the receiving end of Negan’s power trip of a batting practice. Glenn Rhee was killed. (Along with Sgt. Abraham Ford) And the fact that I just put Abraham’s death in parenthesis as a morbid side note, should tell you just how badly they screwed up.

if-glenn-dies-we-riot-11

There I said it. But what frustrates me so much is that it was done in such a bull shit, shock value, careless way. I say careless because I just feel like the producers have little regard for their audience. And I may just be talking out of anger right now, but that’s how I feel. Right now and for the days that have passed, this is how I feel. Chris Hardwick made an incredible point on The Talking Dead, validating any and all of our feelings, whether we are pissed, sad, or happy, because we are the passionate fans who make the show. And we love him for that and for being our full on therapist.

My thoughts are a scramble, still. As I sit here and try to edit myself and categorize my thoughts. But should I edit myself? Should I sugar coat anything? Show runners and AMC sure as hell don’t sugar coat anything for us. So should fans not be allowed the same curtesy? Should we not be allowed to speak our minds about a show that holds such a sacred place in our hearts?

I have so much inside and I don’t know how to say it. The gnawing feeling in my chest and stomach, and the feeling of puffy eyes is enough proof that Sunday night’s episode put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I feel like I was anxious the night before the premiere, (waking up after bad dreams) and then I was nervous the whole day-dodging people with spoilers, and then after it happened I went from shocked, to pissed (some serious vulgar language was thrown left and right in my house hold that’s for sure), to balling my  eyes out. I actually have a video, my brother took of me. It’s too much for me to actually post, but let’s just say I was red faced. And that was after the episode, I just thought of Glenn’s face just before Negan lowered the bat. He was just sitting there, he wasn’t doing anything wrong, sure he had his outburst, but that wasn’t nearly as bad as Daryl’s. Glenn was just there. My brother put it perfectly, “he was an innocent.” And then WHACK. Reimagining that image, that thought, made me explode in tears, causing a bit of a domino effect in my house as my mom and sister in law began to get teary eyed and my brother jumped over to hug me. He and I are both completely messed up over this. We’re both just pissed and when my sister in law tried to be the voice of reason and ask us “Would you have rather seen him die getting ripped to pieces by walkers.” We both answered with a forceful YES in unison. Walkers eat people, it’s what they do. It’s what we know from this world, and that does become exciting and a bit of an adrenaline boost. But having one man bash the skull in of another man, is just not what I want or need to see. AMC- the same network that won’t allow the F word, but yet allowed that horrific imagery to be displayed for the world to watch. Yea that makes total sense.

I am not denying the cinematic genius of the show. The angles and the way it was shot was amazing- the POV shots- really were so interesting. And I know how well this show can be done, I’ve seen it in the past. But this week’s content…heartbreaking…too heartbreaking.

MANIPULATION GONE TOO FAR/THE BAIT & SWITCH TECHNIQUE

And that’s the problem, with this whole death scene. After going through all that wait and worry, I would have just rather they killed him last season. Instead we waited months for that bait and switch, shock value bull shit. I was a wreck last season when we had to deal with Glenn’s fake death, but I put my faith in the fact that Glenn had so much story left to tell and that he couldn’t be gone, and he wasn’t. But now after having to go through all that, and then the 6 month summer hiatus- to have it actually result in a Glenn death…Pure BULL SHIT. And because of that same need for shock value, they killed Abraham first to throw us off and totally didn’t allow his character to have his own meaningful death. His death was cast to the side, and completely overshadowed, because when you peg a supporting character death against a main character death, that supporting character isn’t cared about as much. And although Abraham is beloved in his own right his longevity on the show doesn’t compare to Glenn’s, so which death is being most talked about, Glenn’s. Although Abraham’s death was mighty and had purpose and he went out without fear and still his strong self, it fell to the side. If you ask me he deserved his own death. He shouldn’t have been a lead up or a manipulative fake out for Glenn’s horrific death.

I understand fans of the comics wanted this scene. They wanted the gore- the blood, the guts. But fans of the show, did not. Because although many fans overlap between the genres, fans of solely the show have become so undeniably attached to the original Atlanta 5 that, we hate to even consider the possibility of the show going on without them. Secondary characters are all up for grabs, but DO NOT MESS WITH MY GLENN. This so called “iconic” comic scene was ruined. I could give two shits about the comic scene, I don’t follow them and I don’t see that death as iconic at all. It’s disturbing and removes one of my favorite charcters from this world I’ve grown to follow intently. I just think the death should match the character. Yes in a way, Abraham’s did. He was staring Negan down, in a “take me” sort of fashion. Even during his death he still gave us one of his epic one liners and told Negan- “suck my nuts.” It was oddly funny and badass as hell. But Glenn’s death- it went unjustified, the purpose fell flat. It was out of nowhere. If they wanted to make it Glenn they should have just showed us it in the finale, at least then it would have been an instant shock and the wait wouldn’t have been for nothing. And the recovery period would be given proper time.

But no they had to do their whole little dance to make us think they maybe just maybe weren’t going to follow the comic.

I get it’s a zombie apocalypse show, I get that people have to die. I get that that in order for things to keep going and to keep things interesting with a realistic heir, main characters need to die to impact a greater story. But as a fan, I just think that this particular death was ruined. And whatever story they tell going forward could have still been accomplished if they hadn’t chosen Glenn.

DARYL’S TO BLAME

I know that the way Glenn died on the show, is how he died in the comics. I understand that. But considering the show varies from the comic quite often, they didn’t have to have it be Glenn. And to have Abraham be the initial victim on the receiving end of Lucille, (the Point of View shot was in fact him and not Glenn) and give us this sense of relief, all to have Daryl have an outburst lunging at Negan and swinging at him, causing Negan to get pissed. Further stating the fact that he is a man of his word- the first outburst was free but any others and he would “shut that shit down.” In my head it made sense (although it pains me to say this) for Negan to kill Daryl. But no instead he pivots after bashing Abraham’s head in and whacks poor innocent Glenn over the head out of nowhere. I’m a Daryl fan, I am, but even so I am dead ass saying that if it weren’t for Daryl’s outburst, Glenn would still be alive. So not only did they make us think it was Daryl with the clips released, they then death layered Abraham and Glenn- and further pinning two crowd favorites against each other-Daryl and Glenn, by having Daryl be the cause of Glenn’s death.

The scene itself was heart breaking and gut wrenching. In an odd way I felt like I was prepping for it to be Daryl, but I thought they weren’t going to go that far, so when I saw it was Abraham there was an instant relief, because although I love him and his crazy sayings that always crack me up, I knew I could recover from his death versus trying to recover from a main core character death. The original Atlanta five that were left. But when I saw that it was Abraham, I knew it wasn’t over. I sensed it, I felt it in the pit of my stomach and then …it happened. The worst decision The Walking Dead ever made. I had tried so hard to stay away from spoilers, but I did watch the promo clips and the sneak peek. And all signs were intentionally pointing to Daryl. Dwight wearing his vest, riding his motorcycle, carrying his cross bow. And then in the sneak peek where we see the brain remains on the ground you see a blanket on the floor near it, the blanket we all knew Daryl had draped around his shoulders.

As much as I love Daryl- he is really one of my favorites- I cannot choose between my love for him and my love for Glenn. My sister in law asked me who would I rather it be, Glenn or Daryl and I told her she couldn’t ask me that question because I couldn’t give her an answer, I couldn’t choose. I had three characters I did not want touched, excluding Rick because I knew he was alive because of the sneak peek, and killing him would defeat the point of the idea that the producers and writers have been stressing, that this season is about breaking Rick down. My three favorites; Daryl, Maggie and Glenn. And when I got wind of people having spoilers and telling me I was going to be a wreck, I began to really worry it was Daryl, so I was prepping for Daryl, hoping it would be a secondary character, because fans would freak the F out if it were Daryl. But in that prepping, the Glenn death knocked the wind out of me. Even though his death was written the same in the comic (excluding the Abraham kill and the Daryl outburst) I didn’t think they were going to do it. I thought it was too expected. I thought/kind of hoped it was going to be Michonne. See my reasoning HERE.

Shock value. That’s all this episode was. I do not feel justified at all. The wait, the cliffhanger, the almost death of Glenn last season that freaked everyone the F out, all- for nothing. All to be thrown away in less than 30 minutes. They knew they would get shit for this, which is why they made it happen in the premiere and not the finale, because they’re going to try to use this season as a way to redeem their bullshit.

THE FANDOM AND WHAT LIES AHEAD

I’m a huge fan of the show, which is why I feel so deeply and strongly about all this. I may just be coming off as a bitter fan who didn’t get what she wanted. Or a bitchy fangirl who is pissed one of her favorite characters got killed off. But it’s more than that to me. It’s the way he was killed off, and the lack of respect we were shown as viewers who have been so faithful for the past 6 seasons. No matter what the story they want to tell after this, nothing can convince me it was worth Glenn’s death. In fact I believe the story would have been made greater had they kept Glenn alive. He’s had to endure so much death over the past season. Noah getting ripped to pieces by walkers, Nicholas shooting himself, all right in front of his eyes. That is traumatizing, and I would have loved to have seen how he handled that, and how he would have dealt with killing humans on a greater scale to protect his family. I’m a big believer in seeing a show through. But if I’m being honest, after that episode I just felt done. The need to watch any future episodes keeps moving further and further away from me, there isn’t an urgency like there used to be. There’s a feeling of betrayal.  Because I just don’t want to see a Walking Dead world where Glenn doesn’t exist. And to make things worse they gave us that bull shit “what could have been” dream sequence family dinner, where Glenn is holding his son as Maggie and Abraham sit next to him smiling and everyone else passes dinner plates and talking happily like one big family. Twist the knife even more, Scott Gimple. What the hell was that? I don’t know where my heart lines right now. I’m on the fence. I can’t say I won’t ever tune in again, because I still care about the other characters, but I just don’t think I will be as adamant about watching it live. I may just stick to catching it on demand. I don’t know. I reserve the right to change my mind, but for right now that’s how I feel. I wish all fans felt the same, so the showrunners/producers/writers could realize they screwed up big time this time, and to stop taking our trust in them for granted.

HERE is a really great read about others who feel strongly about whether or not they will continue to watch and support the show. I can’t say I don’t agree with some of their reasoning, there’s a lot of truth and facts to back it up.

GLENN’S FINAL WORDS

“Maggie…I’ll find you.” One final promise of protection. A vow to always continue to look and find her no matter where he is, or where she/their baby are. As beautiful as they were, I can’t. I don’t even want to relive this. Not to mention how gruesome and gory that scene was. Did you catch how once it happened the Glenn body was seldom shown, especially when Maggie crawls over, you only see her reactions to it, they are never fully in the same frame. Yea Gimple, you know what you did.

FUTURE VIEWERSHIP/MAGGIE & GLENN HISTORY

The writers and producers keep saying things like “this episode wasn’t about who was on the receiving end of the bat, it was about the impact it has on Rick and how to break a man down.” But to the fans, that’s all that mattered. And the cliffhanger made that so. I understand that Rick (& Co.) had begun to get too cocky. And I understand Negan saying that Rick wasn’t getting it, he wasn’t fearing Negan the way he should. Basically Negan wants Rick to be his bitch and like it. But let’s be clear Rick was still not acting as Negan wanted even AFTER he killed both Abraham and Glenn. It wasn’t until Negan nearly forced him to cut Carl’s arm off that he was finally satisfied with the fear and fully defeated look on Rick’s face.

So the question begs, why Glenn? Why did it HAVE to be Glenn? Maggie is pregnant. They were trying to build something. They are the driving romantic force of the show, the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Not to mention how much love and faith went into their trying to get back to each other after last season’s “Is he or isn’t he alive” saga. They barely got any actual screen time together in season 6, I wonder how she even got pregnant in the first place since they were barely ever together. In fact many of the seasons were about splitting them up and then having them find each other again somehow. Relying on their unspoken connection as husband and wife. Up until season 6 Glenn hadn’t even killed a human. He was a leader, a loyal man of honor. He took whatever came his way and handled his business like a boss, but with an odd heir of grace in a rather grace-less world. He was our heart. He was our family. And the thought that he will never crack a joke, kiss Maggie, or meet his baby, well it just breaks my heart to pieces.

THE FUTURE OF MAGGIE GREENE (-RHEE)

I’m hearing that this storyline is to set the stage for Maggie to become badass, but she was always badass. She was even the only one to say that they had to fight Negan after Glenn’s death. She fought through crippling pain and shock. How she stayed put and silent throughout her husband’s death is beyond me. I expected more of a reaction I think, but if I gather her condition and her physical exhaustion and pain, she was probably in complete shock and couldn’t move. Her reaction after Negan’s crew leaves and they can finally speak and comfort each other is what kicked off the tears for me. The initial hit was too much of a shock. So I guess you can say we had the same emotional roller coaster as Maggie herself. Maggie is the first to make a move and the first to want to make plans for retaliation, begging her friends to leave and go back, worrying that they were only out there for her. Maggie saying that she’s taking him (Glenn’s body) with her. That’s when I really started to break down, seeing her heartbreak and feeling her pain. Lauren Cohan slayed it! I truly can’t wait till this Negan dick dies, and I pray that it’s Maggie that gets to do the honors. And if they think they are going to kill this Glaggie baby, they better think twice! Because I wasn’t ready for Glenn to die and if they let this baby die now too, it’s just as worse. Maggie has lost everything, she doesn’t need to lose her baby too, and the last piece of Glenn she has left. Ughhh why didn’t SHE ever take a picture of HIM. Oh I hate this, his baby is never even going to get to see what his/her dad looked like. I can’t. I can’t do this. I don’t want to do this. Can I be done now? Can this be done, can the show be done, I need a minute. This should have been the season finale last year, 6 months would have been a good recovery period.

ACTOR REACTIONS

If you ask me the actors are too cool about this whole thing. Steven Yeun was all game for it and that kind of saddens me, why do you want to leave us? Sometimes fans just need to feel like you care. And I know he does, but can’t you just be as pissed off as us. Screw respecting the story or respecting your bosses, tell me how you really feel. You’re leaving the people and the place you’ve called home for 6 years, how are you not more upset? Or are you just really good at holding it in?

Can’t Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie) just cry tears the way Emily Kinney did when Beth died and she was on The Talking Dead? Or how Lauren cried when Scott Wilson’s character Hershel who played her father, died.  Can’t you just be here with us! We need that. #THANKGODFORCHRISHARDWICK

Michael was also on E! News and his interview was just so good… so Thank you Michael! Thank you for getting it and us! (and for keeping the stache, he said he’s keeping it for the fans for a while, he says he understands there is a morning period for us.)

I don’t know maybe it’s because they’ve known for so long and they’ve already moved on. Maybe it’s because it’s just a job to them, and it’s time to move onto new adventures. But it just doesn’t feel like they were as emotional as the fans were. Ugh I don’t know I must be going through something serious right now. I’m checking their social sites, like TALK TO ME!!! #PMS #IBLAMEYOU

What’s worse is that producers Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman, sit in their stuffy little seats with pusses on their faces the whole time on The Talking Dead trying to justify their choices without actually speaking any words worth listening to. #NOSCRATCHTHAT #GIMPLEANDKIRKMANIBLAMEYOU They don’t apologize, or sympathize with their audience ever. Quite frankly they annoy the crap out of me. Cocky people annoy me. It is my biggest pet peeve.

Just let Greg Nicotero do all the interviews, him I actually like. And he makes the sickest walkers come to life. (Although that Glenn death imagery I could have done without, but he didn’t write the scene, so I can forgive you.) 😉

I miss the old seasons, when the only thing our group had to fear were the walkers.

CONCLUSION

I don’t know what else to say, or what else to think. I’ve rambled on for pages, and I feel like I was an emotional mess and nothing got across the way that I wanted it to. I love the show, I love the characters, and I want to see what happens next and what happens when Negan finally gets his. But I just can’t stomach thinking about the show without Glenn, my eyes borderline tears every time I even think about it. I am still in shock. It’s a circle of denial. It’s the 5 stages of grief. I’ve felt weird these past few days-like I’ve been in an alternate universe, just floating about. It took me a good week to digest and recover from the cliffhanger of Season 6 finale, I was obsessed. So now that I know Glenn was one to go, it may take me longer to recover from.

Anyway I’m going to go before, I start to get emotional again. I realize I probably talked in a circular repetition and may have even contradicted myself, but this is where I am after Sunday night’s game changer. A state of anger, sadness, and confusion. Acceptance is a long way off. I hope you can see where I’m coming from as a fan. It’s hard. It’s going to be really hard. Fan girl life sucks.

GOODBYE…SEE YOU LATER

Glenn– from your first words, “Hey Dumbass” to your last “Maggie…I’ll find you.”- I have never not loved you, believed in you, or trusted you. Unfortunately you were the heart and moral compass of the show that got taken away from us this season and in the very first episode of the new season, none the less. I can’t even fathom watching the show without you. You will be greatly missed, there aren’t words to explain just how much. Maggie will never be the same without you, and The Walking Dead will never be the same without you.

RIP GLENN Love you, forever. ❤ #Family

#WhoIsIt?

Who Is It?

**Please excuse the usage of vulgar language**

Still in a total state of mindf*ck over that cliffhanger? Yea you know what cliffhanger. Well, no worries, me too. Honestly it’s pretty much all I can think about. I am obsessing here and have been since Sunday. And it’s causing me a bit of unnecessary anxiety, like- for real. My parents are like whoa just stop, and I’m like no I need this, I need to solve this mystery, (or at least think I’ve solved it) or I won’t be able to enjoy my Summer. I feel like I’ve been walking around in a fog with a pit in my stomach. Thanks Scott Gimple.

The Walking Dead’s Season 6 finale disturbingly yet appropriately titled “Last Day On Earth” premiered this past Sunday on April 3rd and fans are pissed that we don’t get to see who was on the receiving end of the brutal beating given by the series newest and most lethal villain; Negan.

Let me set the mood for you. All day Sunday I felt anxious, I wanted The Walking Dead to be over before it started. That in itself was a warning, considering I love watching this show! I felt like it was a long drawn out wait til 9 o’clock and then the slow drag of the episode just kept piling onto that anxiety. I knew it was building to something that was going to mess us all up, but I had no idea they would leave it off the way they did. And considering the hype revolving this finale, and Negan’s rumored appearance, you could imagine the excitement (and FEAR!) While the last half an hour may have packed on the action, it also packed on the confusion, the fear, and for many fans- the anger.

To say that I cursed more than usual during this episode would be an understatement. I did not hate the episode, I thought it was actually very good. I think it was great storytelling, and it was filmed amazingly. The cinematic aspects are beautiful in their own twisted and manipulative ways. However, I do also believe we expected more action then we got. With Season 6’s B season giving off an action packed high and delivering full on, the 90 minute finale kind of dragged on as we saw the survivors try with all their might to get to the hill top to get Maggie and her baby some much needed help. Yet on their journey they encountered many blocked roads and were left with nowhere to go but walk right into a trap…Negan’s trap…served with a side of Lucille.

As a writer myself, I wasn’t angry about the cliffhanger. I mean yea I was like WHAT? I have to wait until October to find out! I seriously don’t know how I’m going to do that. But hopefully this obsession dies off once I get all my thoughts and feels out in this (and several other) blog posts into the world. I feel like that always helps me.

I will say I was PISSED with the Glenn fake out death they pulled mid-season, feel free to read my drama HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. But this cliffhanger was actually genius. Let’s think about it for a second? There has been so much anticipation over this scene, over Negan’s arrival. It is well known to those who read the comics and they already “THINK” they know what’s going to happen. So what better way to throw people off then to flip the camera and put you in the eyes of the victim? Watching that scene I felt like I was there. I was squirming, I was shielding my eyes, and I certainly felt the anxiety. Listening to Scott Gimple  explain his reasoning behind the cliff hanger on after show The Talking Dead made some sense; to paraphrase, he basically said he wanted the viewers to feel as if they were part of the lineup. Honestly, I think his mission was accomplished. Although I don’t agree with some of his other ambiguous answers- yea he’s really good at not answering questions- I definitely felt like I was in that lineup. The fear was authentic.

In an interview; Director Greg Nicotero gave some key reasons as to how he shot this episode and why saying;

“This episode was tremendously well-written and I feel like, from a visual standpoint, we spend a lot of time making the audience feel boxed-in like the characters were. The first confrontation with the lead Savior on the road, we had these big wide shots where you see Rick and his group on the left side and the Saviors on the right side, and then as the show progresses our angles get tighter and tighter and tighter so that we get to a point where the last interaction with our group in the RV, we’re in super tight close-ups of all our actors. We wanted the audience to feel like they were being corralled just like the characters were; we kept the camera in the RV for all of that.”-Nictotero

With the episode being written by show runner Scott M. Gimple and directed by horror fan and special effects mogul Greg Nicotero, there are sure to be clues left as to who Negan actually killed. Quite frankly, I don’t know which is worse having known or not knowing. If we had found out, we would have had to grieve that person all Summer. Not knowing leaves it open and when the premiere comes, we at least will have the full story in front of us and the reactions of all of the others. Or maybe we could have been in a state of recovery and acceptance by then, who knows. At least not knowing gives us a bit of a game to play.

So I am here to offer some crazy theories and suggestions. Now I have been on a research high since the finale aired so I have read a lot of theories. But I also rewatched the episode and rewatched THAT scene endless times, to add to those theories and see the proof for myself, and in that research I can up with a few extra things to back up one theory in particular. There are a few things I picked up on that I haven’t come across online….yet. The truth is, The Walking Dead fans are smart, we think both outside and inside the box. We dig deep and we fight and we research and we join forces to come to some conclusions before we all go insane waiting for the Season 7 premiere which is usually scheduled for sometime this fall in October. Just in time for Halloween. Who’s coming to my viewing party? #moralsupport #we’reallinthistogether

So I’m going to dive into this crazy ass mystery and see if I can shed some light on some of the theories I’ve seen. In order to keep things somewhat in order and not make this post 500 pages long, I’m probably going to post in segments. I’ve done a lot of theory thinking over the past few days since the finale aired and I have a pretty solid case for one specific character. Take a look at all my crazy…

20160407_21373420160407_213740

Yea you know I drew diagrams…you can’t tell me you haven’t.

Now I want to just clear something up, I’m a psycho and have been re-watching the scene over and over again trying to add to my theory. So at some point I am sure I could be just making shit up or making things fit my theory when they probably don’t. And I may dig into things that mean absolutely nothing. But I’m looking at this thing from all angles. It’s important to keep in mind, that you can make a case for every character in that line-up. Some are more beloved than others, some would have a greater impact on the audience and on the others (especially Rick) than others. Some you may feel can be pulled out quickly because they aren’t major characters. But The Walking Dead has a habit of flipping the script when it comes to storytelling. They do not stick religiously to the comics, and every time you think you know how something is going to play out, they do something totally unexpected, or they make you question shit so much that you end up over thinking and frying your brain to the point of exhaustion. I know why Andrew Lincoln said he couldn’t sleep and felt sick to his stomach after reading the script, because that’s how I felt after watching it, and how I still feel thinking about it and who it could be. But the theorizing is slightly addictive. #dumpstergate2016 #whoisit2016 So let’s get into this shizz.

EPISODE BACKSTORY:

It wasn’t until we approached the last half hour or so that we realized that Rick began to get increasingly worried, and we were right there with him. When Rick is worried you bet your ass there is a reason to worry. Once Eugene set off as the decoy in the RV. Alone. I knew he wasn’t going to make it far. This show loves irony way too much, and even though Eugene has been stepping up tremendously and he and his mullet have found a special place in our hearts, the saviors were 12 steps and then some ahead of Rick and his crew this whole damn time. They had eyes EVERYWHERE. And it’s sad to say but Rick’s group is incredibly outnumbered. No matter how capable and ready they thought they were, they truly did not know what they were up against, or who.

From the red rover walker chain in the road tagged with remnants of Michonne and Daryl, to the blazing fire wood pit, to the guy being beaten and hung by chains, to the number of saviors ready to unload their weapons on Rick and the gang- The obvious fact that the Saviors were setting up one holy hell of a trap was enough to get your heart racing and your palms sweating. To put it plainly…BITCH NUTS!

After the third road block I remember tossing out some major F-bombs. I was getting so pissed (and nervous as hell). We knew after the first road block, that something was up and there was no way out of this.

The action gets super intense once night hits and Rick and the rest of the RV occupants including; Abraham, Sasha, Carl and Aaron carry Maggie on foot through the woods. The minute they start their journey, we hear that dreaded Savior whistle, and my heart dropped. (That shit is creepy as hell.) Rick utters “GO!” as the crew begins to rush through the woods, bright lights hit them, revealing they are about to be in deep deep shit. As the whistles increase the night is lit up as we are faced with dozens and dozens of Saviors, armed, and ready for war. No way out. Welcome to the show, fam.

The sheer fear on our group’s faces is something I don’t think we as viewers have ever seen, or at least haven’t seen in quite a while. Throughout this season, and especially these past few episodes, our beloved group of survivors have deemed themselves invincible. They have always come out on the other side. They have always gotten through everything, together. They’ve maintained this “we can do anything” attitude. They fought against the massive herd of walkers that broke down the walls of Alexandria, Carl survived a gunshot wound to the eye thanks to Dr. Denise, and Rick and Co. wiped out a damn good amount of Saviors like bad asses. Richonne has been happy and getting busy. People are getting cozy and confident, and when that happens you know shit’s about to hit the fan. HARD. Raise your hand if you felt Rick’s cockiness coming on, but you were like ok he’s still got this? He always does? Yea that was me, until I saw his face in the season finale.

ricck face

As the saviors strip the group of their weapons, they are told to get on their knees. What a freakin’ power trip ordeal this is going to be, what is with that? The whole kneel before me bit, is kind of frustrating. It’s just like well fuck, fight like a real man Negan. Because let’s be real it’s Lucille, who does all the damn work. #BehindEveryMan #IsOneHellOfAWoman I’m sorry, too soon? Yes, I know. Guys I need to make jokes, so I can keep my sanity until October. Bear with me.

lineup

As the lead savior (did we even get this douchebag’s name in this ep?) then tell his men to get her down, meaning get Maggie down off the mattress they were carrying her on, Abraham bulks up saying “Hold up, we got it.” As the savior allows it, Rick and his crew lower Maggie to the ground as they all make their way to the dreaded “lineup.” *Daryl, Michonne, Rosita, and Glenn will soon join from being already held in captivity in a van from the prior episode.

Here is the first piece of the puzzle, or so it may seem. The order of this line of survivors has to mean something, the team of writers, directors and creators for The Walking Dead are clever, everything means something.

The order from left to right is as follows:

Glenn, Rosita, Daryl, Michonne, Abraham, Maggie, Rick, Sasha, Aaron, Carl, Eugene.

lineupp

Some things I have been analyzing when trying to decipher #WhoIsIt are:

The lighting, The camera angles, The trees, The shadows, The Eeny Meeny Miny Moe game, and The carefully placed unknown Eeny Meeny Miny Moe’s, where we hear and see Negan waving his bat and walking but we don’t see who or if he’s actually pointing it at anyone specific.

One of the most frightening things are the giant clues we get by the show using the first person point of view shots. In fact the first shot of the entire episode is from the first person view, and later on we find out that dark enclosed place with peaks of light shining through is the POV of someone in the Savior’s van.

darylpov lightvanvan povpov 2

Those POV shots can only belong to 4 people; Daryl, Michonne, Rosita, or Glenn. The way that the POV shots seem are over Daryl’s head. The POV seems to be someone further back in the van, like Michonne played by Danai Gurira. Which if you look at the way the characters exited the van, it was Daryl, Michonne, Rosita and then Glenn.

As I will display photos below:

Daryl and MichonneRosita

Glenn

Now if we look closely at the usage of first person point of view shots you will see as mentioned the show’s first shot is from a first person POV of someone in the van and the episode ends with a first person POV of that person being beaten by Negan with the help of Lucille.

treestrees 2

I’ve seen a lot of theories about it being Michonne specifically for this reason. The van POV shots seem to be from someone further back in the van on the passenger side of the van and sitting higher up then Daryl. And those signs point to Michonne as pictured.

However, I dug a little deeper. Because of course I did. #TVjunkie

When you look at the set-up of the scene and you think about the other few POV shots we got; they were of Lucille during the Eeny Meeny moments. Now I think that those unknowns I mentioned actually belong to the person he ends up choosing. I am convinced that every single POV shot shown belongs to that one character; the one who was beaten at the end of the episode. I can’t justify it being any other way. I think Greg Nicotero is too clever to just put random POV shots into the show and especially in an episode as crazy as this. Those POV’s mean something. And if you look at the POV shots of Lucille (looking up at Negan from the lineup) both pictures place the POV on the viewer’s right side. Meaning on the side of Abraham, Michonne, Daryl, Rosita, and Glenn. If you look closer at the background of the Lucille shots. You can see the trailer behind Negan; the front of the trailer is there so again that places us of the right side of the lineup looking up at Negan.

trailer fulltrailer side near michonne POV

trailer

There is also a man in the next shot. And it is clear that there were a bunch of Savior men standing near the front of the RV on that side of the lineup.

2nd lucille pov shot men in background

michonne

Just as Negan is about to pass Michonne she looks up at him. He walks past her, and then the Eeny Meany Miny Moe continues, you don’t see the face of the person but you catch a Lucille POV shot which is directly followed by a fearful Michonne close-up. Camera tricks, or a clue?

As for the trees, it’s really hard to get a clear picture of the ones you see behind Negan to study and compare them to those  said to be across from Michonne. People keep saying something about 4 branches lining up with Michonne’s view, and let’s just say, I can believe it. If I come across any solid evidence of that, I will update.

Ngean backgroundScreenshot_2016-04-06-21-35-12

The lighting is also something I considered. Now in the realm of filming I am sure there were several sources of light used to light this scene. However from the story’s perspective, in the zombie apocalypse world the source of light is actually coming from the car headlights. There is one coming from either side of the lineup and then one behind Carl.

outview 2

out viewlight source from the left

If you put yourself in Michonne’s place and you’re looking up at Negan his right side is cast in a shadow, which means he would be lit from the left-

breath sweeps to the left

-which would make sense because there would be light streaming directly from that side from two places. Since the closer you get to Glenn, who has only one direct car headlight behind him, on that side, Negan would be lit up more and would be lit up from the front, showing his full face, rather than just half of it.

looking up a Negan

glenn's outburst-light source

Negan talking to Glenn in more of a full light.

Now getting even more technical and crazy. When Negan is giving his big old speech, most of it is directed at Rick, so for the most part Negan is more so on the left of his “stage” and you can see the smoke from his breath drifts to the right as it does when speaking to everyone on the left side of the line-up, (facing Negan).

Breathe to the right

When Negan stands in front of Lucille’s future victim, his breath sweeps to the left.

breathe sweeps to the leftbreath sweeps to the left

Which it also did so when he was speaking to Abraham, whom if you remember correctly is right next to Michonne.

breath sweeps to the lefts in front of abe

Now also if you want to get super technical, the POV shots are clear views. No hair over the eyes, like Glenn and Daryl had. Sure every now and then Michonne’s hair could land in front of her eyes, but not for the bulk of this sequence.

moe passing to the left

Now I know what you are thinking. But in the comics Negan doesn’t kill Women, or Kids. Well to that I call bull shit. Someone on the lovely interweb recently reminded all of us that in a prior episode Jesus mentions how Negan “tortured a 16 year old.” So there. Yea. I don’t think they are going to be following the comic notation to a T. This guy seems lethal, all bets are off.

The “Take it like champ” screams Abraham, yes I know. But let’s be real, Michonne could easily fall into that category. She is one bad ass mama jama. She has balls, she just calls them breasts instead. She is a beast with that Katana. And let’s face it she would be a shock, and a twisted suitable replacement for Glenn who originally gets this dreaded kill in the comics. Michonne is a “hard left turn,” choice which is what Gimple said they would be doing with this scene. However, her death would have a serious impact on many if not all of the characters. It would most certainly destroy Rick, which is what Robert Kirkman said was the point of this episode, “to tear Rick Grimes down. “In fact in the scenes leading up to the dreaded sequence, we see the Saviors taunt Rick about his “Last Day On Earth” or someone he love’s last day on earth. Let’s be real Richonne was too good to be true, and I’d say being Rick’s woman has kind of a kiss of death effect. #RIPLori #RIPJesse That little moment between Rick and Abraham where Abraham asks Rick if it scares him to let someone get close again and Rick just simply answers yes. I mean hello…foreshadowing?

which one of you pricks is the leader standing in front of michonnemichonne negan

Honestly, I don’t want Michonne to die. She’s badass and I’m kinda digging the new Romance vibes, but considering the other van participants, I can’t stomach it being either Glenn or Daryl. Glenn and Maggie and Baby. Yea no- I can’t deal with that. It’s not Glenn. I don’t accept that. I mean are the writers, creators, and directors that insane to put us through yet another Glenn debacle?

Are they that trusting of their storytelling cred that they think they could get away with killing off our beloved Daryl Dixon. Let’s be real. We truly will RIOT. Daryl is my boo. In fact I’d say the amount of backlash from a Daryl death the show would get would be catastrophic. I’m not sure they could recover from that the way they’ve been able to brush us off before with Dale, Sophia, Hershel, or Beth. And well, I hate to sound crass, but Rosita would not have that big of an impact on the story as a whole, or the audience. Sure we like her, but I could handle her death. Although she and Eugene could start a little somethin’ somethin’. 😉

Now I do have some theories about some other characters, especially some about the other side of the lineup #Carl #Eugene. But I will save that for another time. Right now, sadly Michonne is my leading contender. But I am sure as new things get investigated, it will change day to day. After all we have 7 months to fill.

I feel those who are pissed and want answers. I feel ya. But honestly, you can’t say that the show hasn’t been boss this year, and that the episode wasn’t brilliant in its own right. That slow build up was done for a reason. That cliffhanger was done for a reason. Sure we all want to know. But tv shows are meant to mess with you. This isn’t the first show to end a season on a cliffhanger. It happens and lets be real, we haven’t stopped talking about it since. So who’s winning here? If you ask me, we all are. We the fans get to speculate and trade theories and the show runners get to see how much of an impact the show has on it’s fans and how passionate we are. One of us is bound to come close with our theories and then when the Season 7 premiere comes on (which yes I hear you, I am dreading the wait, hell I almost went insane waiting to find out if Glenn was alive and that was only a few episodes) and you see your theories play out, you can either think hey I was right, or hey I wasn’t even close. See that’s the twisted beauty of this show and of this cliffhanger. It really could be anybody. Nobody is safe in this world. And that’s the whole damn point. Rick Grimes has finally gotten himself in some deep ass shit.

I have crazy fangirled over TV shows before. One Tree Hill was my obsession, and I know what it feels like to agonize over a Season Finale especially a cliff-hanger…but ‪#‎TWD takes the cake. Props to the writers for being ballsy. And now I am crossing over to the point of crazy town as I dive into the mystery of ‪#‎WhoIsIt I’m talking maps and diagrams and shit. I’m talking camera angles and lighting. I’m talking Eeny Meeny Miny Moe screenshots. I’m talking countless pauses and plays. Gimple you messed with the wrong fans. ‪#‎challengeaccepted ‪#‎Happy7months ‪#‎IRefusetoBelieveItsGlenn ‪#‎FTheComics ‪#‎DumpstersForLife

Until my next TWD post.

And remember to keep your minds going, watch-

Send Up Green Balloons For Glenn!

***SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!***

Chris Hardwick meme

Haters gonna hate hate hate…

But I could care less you skeptics.

I knew it in my heart that Glenn is still ALIVE!!!!!!

glenn alive

Take a look at my own personal instagram campaign if you will, as I wrote Glenn on my wrist/hand for the past 4 weeks, in hopes that he’d be back with us soon. Captioning each picture “I got you babe.” Because my heart knew he was still alive. I know, #psychofan, but I take this shit seriously, no shame. Judge me. 😉

i got you babe glenn heartGlenn heartCapture 2Capture

I had to do something special to show my love for him. It served as my #goodluckcharm. I’d like to think I had a hand in the outcome 😉 haha.

As Sunday night’s Episode 7 entitled “Heads Up” of The Walking Dead finally revealed what we’ve been waiting to hear for the past 4 weeks, your girl was dancing and jumping around, screaming in her living room. Yup, I was in with the fans waiting on that dumpster, with no shame.

Today in honor of Green Balloons for Glenn (we’ll get to that,) you guessed it, I wore green to support my boys future homecoming!

green for glenn

Let’s break down the episode, Nicolas was in deed Glenn’s shield and protection. Well at least he was good for something in the end. Sorry Nicolas, but you know what you did. You tried to kill Glenn and mess with the well-being of the group too many times to be greatly missed. But I do think he in some way was meant to help Glenn to make up for everything. Terrible outcome, but definitely sparked a conversation.

People had their jokes about us believers.

Glenn dumpster

Saying we were crazy, saying there was no way that he could survive that zombie infested alley.

0j27UVunt6lx[1]4876508-3[1]

And although I admit it unrealistic that he did, Glenn has always been one resourceful dude. And he’s maintained his humanity but still manages to escape the craziest of situations.

The mind games the cast and creators of the show were playing with us, gave us little solace. Like the ambiguity they were throwing out “you saw what you saw,” “Glenn will come back in some way.” Maggie revealing she is pregnant. Removing his name from the credits. (Well his name is back baby! Right in its rightful place near the pocket watch Hershel gave him.) It’s been a crazy and emotional ride.

credits-steven-yeun[1]

Right where you belong.

But as usual fans like us…we knew better, we had faith and we believed.

It was an interesting journey as the episode started we see a black screen and we hear the words “Thank You” uttered by Nicolas accompanied by the gunshot and the piercing feedback from it, as we are brought back to the alley of walkers that cornered both he and Glenn. We watch as Nicolas falls onto Glenn and it is he who is being ripped apart and shielding Glenn from any actual bites. Glenn slides his way up under the dumpster and takes cover, killing the nearest zombie forming a shield. And after waiting out the herd, for what seems like a day, he emerges with only a couple bumps and bruises. I have to say I thought he was going to at least have been bitten and that he would in turn need to chop off a limb. But he was A-Okay…which makes me thrilled.

The rest of the episode we see Glenn come across Enid, as she throws him a bottle of water. He goes after her to try and ask how everyone back home in Alexandria is doing. He asks what the noise was that swayed the herd, he asks about Maggie. I swear every time he calls Maggie his wife, my heart flutters a bit. It’s kind of the sweetest thing to hear him say that.

enid

Throughout Glenn and Enid’s storyline we see the dad in Glenn come out. As he battles with her to come back to Alexandria with him. Saying things like “my wife wouldn’t want me to leave you.” Fighting her and her nasty attitude and even pulling a gun off her after she points it directly at him, because she doesn’t want him to try and save or help her. We get it Enid you’re a teenager, but chill with the dramatics, because it’s the zombie apocalypse and ain’t nobody got time for that. Shit needs to get done. Glenn said it best, “You point a gun at my head and I’m the asshole.” Haha Glenn you are going to make one awesome dad. He later mentions that he’s helping her not for Maggie anymore, but for what I can only assume is himself and the child he is about to have and its future. He goes on to tell Enid that they are not supposed to let the world die, and that you honor the dead (the people they’ve lost) by living.

We are brought to Maggie’s journey simultaneously as she takes watch overlooking the gate, waiting, hoping for a sign. She mentions that “this is the direction he would come from, and that if he were to send a sign, she’d see it from up there.” Rick joins her and gives her hope that she’s right. Maggie even makes mention to Judith and how she looks so much like Lori, her motherly instincts are already kicking in! As the episode continues on, we see Enid and Glenn try and find their way home, as they come to a hill overlooking Alexandria and the walker count keeps going up. Glenn and Enid accumulate quite a large amount of Green Balloons that were from the initial distract the walkers plan and use them to send up as a signal to Maggie and the rest of the group that he is out there and trying to get home. Maggie sees them and goes running, telling Rick “that’s Glenn.” This moment made my heart burst. I am a sucker for the Glenn/Maggie love story from that first moment he saw her riding on her horse in season 2.

green balloons a sign

This brings me to my next order of business. Now I don’t read the comics, I’d rather not spoil the show for myself. But in some shape or form the show does follow the comics at times. And in the comics, Glenn does in fact die. And he dies by the hand of a Savior named Negan who takes a bat to his head. It’s said to be one of the comic’s craziest scenes and deaths. And it was recently reported (during the emotional wreck we had to endure….seriously strategic timing) that Negan was cast and will be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. So there’s still that fear that Glenn’s death can only be a season away. Which would be hellish and quite frankly down right evil, for them to dangle that hope in front of us only to rip it away. But I guess that’s how things roll in the zombie apocalypse. But I will in no way shape or form be okay with that. Let it be known, I don’t want to go through this again.

walkingdead11f-1-web[1]

There is another fear, hanging over our heads as well. And that fear is that something could happen to Maggie, in some twisted original death tradeoff.  As we see in the end of Sunday’s episode the watch tower comes crashing down, breaking their wall of protection down and allowing the walkers full access into Alexandria. No one is safe. And Maggie is seen running for her life in the promo for next week. Maggie better be okay! I can’t deal with this!!!!

The Mid-season finale is next week, and word to the wise people, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT LIVE! I’m so tired of people complaining that the internet ruins it because they say things before they watch it. 1.) Stay off the internet then. 2.)You only have yourself to blame. I’m a fan, and I need to talk about things that happen on this show!

New episodes are coming in February 2016, and the series has been renewed for a 7th season for October 2016 as if there was any doubt.

Now onto The Talking Dead.

Steven Yeun released a special message during a commercial break during AMC’s Into the Badlands saying;

“I’ve been following everything you’ve been saying and it’s meant so much to me to see all of your support and concern for Glenn, The Walking Dead has the best fans in the world and I’m happy to be back.”

And we are happy to have you back Steven! And can I just say to anyone who was disappointed by the fact that they kept Glenn alive, what the hell is wrong with you? His story isn’t finished, and you know you love him, so suck it up and enjoy the ride!

Yeun also finally posted on social media as well.

steven yeun thank you twittersteven yeun thank you insta

Executive Producer Gale Ann Hurd was on The Talking Dead and discussed the insanity that went into trying to keep this storyline a secret. She told Chris Hardwick how each actor and everyone involved in the show were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Steven joked about how he didn’t get out much for the last few weeks, and that he ate a lot of takeout and his apartment looks like a hoarders. He also joked that he possibly lost some friends, because he wasn’t able to talk to them about the show. Steven mentioned how overwhelming the response has been, and how he barely knew how to address it, and that he felt bad that he wasn’t able to talk to anyone about what was going on.

He also spoke about how through social media we can all communicate and that with The Walking Dead and this current storyline they realize How they “affected a lot of people at once.”

Steven compared Enid and Glenn’s interaction of her throwing him a water battle in his time of need to his Walkie moment “hey dumbass” scene with Rick from Season 1. Which I thought was so true and really beautiful now that I think about it. And it’s beautiful to see that even though Glenn is always the guy to help someone out no matter who they are, to see him so aware of the fact that he’s going to be a dad and he’s trying to instill some kind of hope back into this young girl, is showing that he’s ready to take on this journey with Maggie. Yeun mentions Glenn wants to be able to tell his son or daughter that he did everything he could possibly do to maintain his humanity in this world. Let it be known that Glenn is the only original character that still hasn’t killed a human. As Yeun said on The Talking Dead that in the past seasons Glenn was fearful of creating a life with Maggie and now that he has seen Alexandria as a potential safe haven, it is only natural for him to want that start a life with Maggie.

baby glaggie

Baby Glaggie coming soon!

When Chris Hardwick asked about the storyline and whether or not the creators or actors would be worried that the non-death of Glenn would send the wrong message to the fans, Writer and Producer Scott Gimple said that they “wanted to tell a story of uncertainty this season, and that they wanted the audience to be (and feel) where Maggie is. I sure as hell did!

Yeun said Glenn’s fate was more about “sometimes even in this world the good guy can win.” I  absolutely love that and I just hope it lasts long. This whole ordeal has me doing a lot of obsessive researching to see how the world is reacting, I’m seeing a lot of hate on the fact that he’s alive, which is kind of an oxymoron because the world erupted when we all thought they killed him off. I mean who ever really wanted him to die? Who doesn’t love Glenn! I don’t get that, I mean who gives a crap if they fooled us, that’s storytelling and we still got what we wanted, screw shock value. I’m all for Glenn being alive! There’s definitely more to come.

On The Talking Dead they instead of giving Glenn an In Memoriam… The gave him an Un-Memoriam

They crossed out Glenn’s name and wrote… (Much like taking his name down from the memorial wall, like Maggie did two episodes ago.) As Hallelujahs sing aloud.

We are so happy you are alive! ….For now. (Ugh bite your tongue TTD)

I get the emotional rollercoaster, I understand coming from a writer’s perspective they are telling a story, and I respect that. Like I said, I will say YOU GOT ME GOOD and be happy he is alive. I admit I had my fair share of my angry tweets, but as a fan it’s only natural to have that knee jerk reaction to be angry with the writers and creators. As someone who loves television and loves to write and hopes to one day write for television this idea that this show was able to stir up something so grand in people and have fans talking across the board was a tall order and they managed to do it. And I think when you get that kind of reaction from your fans, even if they hatefully disagree with your story telling at the moment, to get that passionate of a response shows you must be doing something right.

We the fans, take this show seriously and we consider the original characters family at this point. Glenn is one of the few originals left, and it was hell to be in limbo for so long about what happened to him. But in hindsight, now that the pain of the unknown is in the past, we can laugh and say it was great storytelling in its own right and I appreciate them not waiting too long to let us in on Glenn’s fate. And I am extremely happy that they chose to give us what we wanted to see rather than shock us with an impromptu death. Because that’s essentially what the show is all about. That anyone can go at any time, regardless of backstory, or family, or love.

We can only hope we don’t get destroyed by next week’s outcome (as the symbol of hope for Maggie is tarnished by the collapse of the watch tower,) or later on in the series when Negan is introduced. We can only be joyful for the extra time we will have with Glenn and Steven Yeun’s portrayal of him. And hopefully from the reaction they received this time trying to kill Glenn off they realize killing our beloved Glenn isn’t acceptable. My Glenn/The Walking Dead Theory

So as you can probably tell from my last post, I’m having a difficult times believing that Glenn has died on The Walking Dead. And with all the theories and speculations and that cryptic message show runner Scott Gimple released to The Talking Dead’s Chris Hardwick, I’m just so uncertain that what we saw on screen was all there was to the story. I think there’s more. So here’s my theory.

Yes the more I watch the scene, the more I think Nicolas’ body fell on him sideways and is shielding Glenn from becoming walker bait. And the blood and guts you see are indeed Nicolas’ intestines and such…

I saw a meme out there that made me laugh it said something like “Psst, hey chill out he’s alive, your intestines aren’t in your chest.” Haha. Has a point, no?

And Glenn’s reaction is just from fear and sadness. Even though Nicolas was someone who Glenn -let’s be honest- someone he hated. Glenn is still Glenn and he feels everything. He feels every loss of human life. In fact it’s been recently discovered that Glenn is one of the few characters on The Walking Dead that has never killed a human being. That fact totally skated by me, considering I totally see Glenn as a badass. He does what needs to be done, and he knows the danger behind this world and he knows when he has to be cautious of someone. But he has a heart of gold when you really think about it.

4733e3928b099097587fab5b99924659[1]

It’s possible he was able to wiggle his way free and hide under the dumpster for cover. It is literally his only option for safety considering the walkers are coming from all angles.

But how the hell can he get out of this crazy herd of walkers unscathed?

Chances are he won’t.

Meaning that he probably got bitten on some kind of expendable part of his body. I’m thinking a hand, arm, leg, or foot. Something that he could chop off and still go on living. Although I think leg and foot would be way worse and the leg would be way too Hershel. But this part of my theory leads to a connection to what Gimple said that we may see “parts of Glenn.” Body parts left behind, for someone to find and think he’s gone. Which is ok. We can handle that. We’ve seen it done before and characters still lasted for quite a while. RIP Hershel. RIP Merle. But Glenn will show up in some epic reveal! Hell yeah.

Then Michonne noticing something is up, because let’s be honest home-girl has some wicked instincts and she follows them. She will go looking for him, and find him as they both circle back and save Rick’s trapped ass.

Hey Dumbass? 😉

Let’s be real that would be kind of dope. Glenn saving Rick from the RV of doom (with one arm like a boss), much like he saved him back in Season 1 from the tank fiasco.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Daryl magically shows up too, cause well he shines in these moments.

I just think that Glenn has tried to be like Rick and get to the point where he can leave someone behind, or shoot someone point blank because they cause a threat. But he managed to take it back and keep his moral compass intact. Damn Damn Damn. As Chris Hardwick always says, you never want to be the moral compass of this show, because then you end up dead. I don’t believe that’s the case with Glenn. Glenn isn’t naïve about this world. He has a keen conscience and hell of a right hook.

Case in point.

I think it would be really lame of the show to end Glenn’s story here. I think they have so much story left to tell. Glenn’s arch has been about him becoming a leader, a man, a husband, a caretaker. The arch could do a complete 180 if they allow Glenn to live. Think about how much death Glenn has been witness to, think about the images he has to suffer and relive over and over again. Losing Dale the way they did, Noah getting ripped from his grasp and torn apart right in front of him knowing there was nothing he could do to help him, and now Nicolas who literally shot himself I front of Glenn and then Glenn has to have his body be ripped apart on top of him, mirroring his possible faith.

I think it would be amazing to see Glenn make that transition toward who Rick has become. Some may say he’s crazy or cold. But he’s lived this life, he knows the risks, he knows the stakes. I think Glenn knows them to but he approaches things differently, which makes him him, and which makes him different from the other leaders in the show. I think it’d be interesting to watch him attempt to deal with all of this. I think it would make for some amazing character development. And would also make for some really deep, raw scenes between him and Maggie. Considering Maggie has suffered so much loss herself.

He can’t die. He just can’t. It doesn’t make sense for the show. So Scott Gimple, I ask you is the shock value of a possible Glenn death really worth risking the possibility for an amazing story arch for Steven Yeun’s character? No. That’s what I thought. I think you’re messing with us here and if you indeed are, and Glenn is alive (and you KEEP him alive, none of this he survives only to be killed later on this season) then I will tip my hat off to you and say YOU GOT ME. And that was one hell of an epic fake out.

Sunday’s episode is 90 minutes long, fingers crossed that I can come back with some answers more to my liking. Because Glenn dying on The Walking Dead is no laughing matter and I think I speak on behalf of the fandom when I say it is unacceptable. And to those saying if Glenn lives the show will lose credit, I say the have more to lose killing off a character everyone loves. Nobody is going to say “Oh my god this show is so stupid why didn’t they just kill Glenn.” We all love you Glenn, we want you around for a long long time.

THE WALKING DEAD WENT TOO FAR!

OK So I don’t know what to think, or how to feel. I do know that I cried, that I jumped up and stood on my couch, then curled into a ball and hid in my sweater. I also know that I am in complete denial. This show, the people, are part of my Sunday night family and it is more than just a show. 6 years we as fans have been on this journey and you get attached to characters, you get attached to their stories and the relationships they make with each other. And in the word of the show, even though you know people have to die to keep the story going, you convince yourself that there are certain characters that are just off limits. A do not kill list if you will.

There’s a lot of skepticism revolving the death of a very beloved Walking Dead character. If you don’t wish to spoiler it for yourself…STOP READING NOW! I repeat SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD, stop reading now!

Ok you’ve been warned.

steven-yeun-glenn-walking-dead-season-5[1]

About 45 minutes into Sunday night’s The Walking Dead- Glenn Rhee’s fate seemed to be made clear as walkers surrounded both him and well hated Alexandrian, Nicolas. Nicolas choosing to end his life brings Glenn down with him into the pile of walkers and we see them get ripped alive by walkers. Yes NICHOLAS the same bastard who got Noah killed, and shot Glenn trying to kill him. The same Nicolas who we knew from day one, couldn’t be trusted. But Glenn being Glenn, always gives second chances, and tries to believe the best in people, and the best in himself. So when Nicolas asked to come along on a diversion plan to help Glenn lure the walkers away from the group, Glenn let him come and try to redeem himself. This is what now, chance 505, and Nicolas screws Glenn yet again. This time maybe for the last time.

44a6edb0-397d-0132-4108-0ebc4eccb42f[1]

The view in front of me was a sea of denial. As I anticipated something really bad  was bound to happen with Nicolas is around. But seeing Glenn get ripped apart was some kind of bad dream. I still can’t believe it and I choose to not believe it. After everything he survived, the well, the collapsed tunnel, merle and the attack of  the governor, terminus, etc. I refuse to believe that THIS is how his story ends. That his death is merely a cautionary tale. BULL SHIT. I call BULL SHIT.

And last but not least, I refuse to believe that Maggie is going to lose the only member left of her family, her husband. Their love story has been one of my favorite parts of the show, watching them stumble around each other like two geeky teens in puppy love, to man and wife. Seeing the little moments between these two scripted or not, are beautiful and rare in this zombie apocalypse world. It is the sweetest gem on this show. If you know me, you know my obsession with love stories, so that right there in itself automatically makes this a loss for me as a Glenn fan and as a Glenn and Maggie fan.

Maggie-Glenn-The-Walking-Dead-season-4-438x700[1]

After the walkers “consume the both of them”, you get an obscure view of Glenn screaming and it looks like his guts are being ripped out of him. But then they cut and you never see what truly happens to him, making you think that he’s just dead. (Not to mention that there were 15 minutes of the damn episode left.) Later on Michonne notices Glenn isn’t meeting up with them like he said he would, and he isn’t answering Rick on his walkie talkie either.

However, as I watched The Talking Dead, some theories are starting to cook. Some people seem to think that when Nicolas shot himself and fell into the crowd of walkers pulling Glenn down with him, Nicolas fell on top of him and that is who was being ripped apart. And that Glenn’s screaming expression is just his reaction to that. Some also seem to think that Glenn got free and hid under the dumpster.

Scott Gimple released a statement that Chris Hardwick read aloud on The Talking Dead that basically alluded to a very cryptic possibility that Glenn could still be alive, could be in pieces, could be in flashbacks, or could be a walker. But that Glenn’s story will be resolved. If you ask me that doesn’t help me very much. It doesn’t help my heart. Although the writers and producers have never released statements about a character’s death quite like this, so this ambiguity could just be a cinematic epic lead on …*fingers crossed.*

The cast isn’t commenting on Glenn’s death. Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn hasn’t said a word. And usually they do when it comes to their character’s death. Something smells fishy.

Glenn has been on the show from the first season. He is one of the few originals left that has lasted this long. And he and Maggie are the only true love story on this show. He is one of my favorite characters. His arch has been one of true leadership, honesty, bravery, and love for his group. The family he has created for himself in this wicked world is one he will do anything for. Always following his gut and instincts to trust him to find his way and lead others to safety. Always looking out for the next person, always willing to do the heavy lifting and dangerous work to protect his people and others. Glenn is good, to a fault, as he always tries to give people the benefit of the doubt. He is kind, but at the same time has lived in this world long enough to know how to survive.

the-walking-dead-season-4-glenn-and-tara-in-tunnel[1]

It kills me to think that in these last few episodes he and Maggie haven’t even spent any real time together, and they didn’t even get to say goodbye. If this is truly Glenn’s fate, then I’m sorry Walking Dead but this time you really got it wrong. I can deal with you killing Hershel (he had one leg and it was bound to happen but it was such a cruel, harsh death for a sweet sweet man), and Beth (there was a bunch of foreshadowing but seriously after all that time waiting to find where she was, and you still killed her)….although they were the hardest two deaths to take in, I could deal, but Glenn…this I cannot deal with. You need to FIX THIS. Please don’t let this be true, please don’t let this be true. Until next week….it’s a 90 minute episode, so they better make this up to us. And Glenn better be alive.
